ICBC-Certified Driving School in Port Coquitlam

Driving School in Port Coquitlam

BuckleUp is the driving school Port Coquitlam learners trust for car driving lessons, from a first time behind the wheel to the morning of the road test. Farhad Sanaeifar knows every local route, from the rail crossings to the Coast Meridian Overpass, and you’ll learn at your own pace in a calm, dual-control car.

Driving Lessons in Port Coquitlam with Confidence

Port Coquitlam has its own driving challenges, from railway crossings and residential streets to busy routes like Lougheed Highway and Shaughnessy Street. Practising locally helps students feel more confident with real PoCo driving conditions.

Because the Tri-Cities test centre sits in Port Coquitlam, learners here get an advantage worth using: the roads you practise on every week are the roads your examiner will take you out on.

At BuckleUp, every lesson is tailored to your level. Beginners start on quieter streets in Citadel Heights, Riverwood and Mary Hill, then move on to busier roads, lane changes, parking, intersections and railway crossings. For road-test preparation we focus on the skills that decide test day, while helping you become a genuinely safer driver.

If you are searching for driving classes in Port Coquitlam, what we run is one-to-one in-car instruction rather than classroom sessions — the same goal, taught at your own pace with an instructor beside you.

Ready for more than city streets? Highway and freeway sessions on Highway 1 and the Mary Hill Bypass cover merging, higher-speed lane changes and exit planning — the part most new drivers never practise until they need it.

Why learn with BuckleUp

Why Port Coquitlam Drivers Choose BuckleUp

Rail-Crossing Confidence

PoCo has more level rail crossings than most cities — we teach the exact stopping and scanning habits examiners look for.

We Know PoCo Routes

From the Coast Meridian Overpass to Shaughnessy Street and the Lougheed corridor, we train on the roads you’ll be tested on.

Modern Toyota Vehicles

Reliable, dual-control Toyotas that are forgiving and easy to learn in for first-time and nervous drivers.

Your Driving Instructor in Port Coquitlam

You learn with Farhad Sanaeifar, a licensed driving instructor who has taught on Port Coquitlam roads for over a decade. Lessons in English or Farsi.

Driving Lessons

Driving Lessons in Port Coquitlam

Lessons in Port Coquitlam built around your licence level, your confidence, and the road test you are working towards.

The place to start if you have your L and have barely driven. We begin on the quieter streets around Birchland Manor and Riverwood, then work up to Lougheed Highway and the rail crossings once the basics feel automatic.

For drivers with a test date coming up. We drill the things examiners actually score — lane changes, parking, merging, speed control and shoulder checks — on the streets around the Port Coquitlam licensing office your test will start from.

For anyone going commercial, whether that is taxi, ride-hailing or a small passenger vehicle. Lessons cover the extra road awareness, smoother control and defensive habits a Class 4 examiner expects.

ICBC Road Test Prep in Port Coquitlam

Test centre: Port Coquitlam Driver Licensing, 1930 Oxford Connector, Port Coquitlam (the ICBC office that serves Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra)

Your Class 7 or Class 5 road test starts right here in Port Coquitlam, at the ICBC Driver Licensing office on the Oxford Connector. It is the Tri-Cities test centre, so learners from Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra come to PoCo to be tested — which means our students are already driving the routes on their own doorstep.

Examiners work outward from the Oxford Connector into the streets around it, so PoCo practice covers the things that actually get scored: level railway crossings, the Lougheed Highway and Shaughnessy Street corridors, lane changes and merging, parallel and stall parking on the residential grids near Downtown PoCo, and steady decision-making in ordinary traffic.

ICBC does not publish its routes and examiners vary them, so no driving school can promise you “the” route. What we can do is make every road around the test centre familiar enough that it stops mattering which one you get.

One caveat on all of the above: from 19 October 2026 the second road test disappears for most novice drivers with a clean record, replaced by a Driving Record Assessment. If you are heading for a Class 5, see what changes on 19 October 2026 before booking anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about driving lessons in Port Coquitlam.

We serve all of Port Coquitlam, including Downtown PoCo, Citadel Heights, Mary Hill, Riverwood, and Birchland Manor.

Yes. Port Coquitlam has many level rail crossings, and we make them a focus — proper stopping, scanning, and never stopping on the tracks are exactly what examiners watch for.

Right here in Port Coquitlam, at the ICBC Driver Licensing office at 1930 Oxford Connector. It is the Tri-Cities test centre, so it also tests drivers from Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. We train on the roads around it, so test day starts somewhere you already know.

Most beginners need around six to ten lessons. After a quick assessment, your instructor will give you an honest plan for the PoCo test routes.

Yes. Lessons are available in both English and Farsi for clearer communication and faster learning.

Single lessons start at $100, and full course packages run to $620. Which one makes sense depends on how much you have driven already — after a first assessment lesson your instructor will tell you honestly how many hours you are likely to need rather than selling you the biggest package.

Lessons run in modern dual-control automatic Toyotas. A dual-control car means the instructor has their own brake, which is the single biggest reason nervous first-timers relax faster than they expect to.

Road test appointments at the Oxford Connector office can book out well in advance, so reserve your test as soon as you are eligible and work backwards from that date. Tell us the date when you book lessons and we will build the schedule around it rather than around ours.

Driving Lessons Across the Tri-Cities & North Shore

BuckleUp also provides ICBC-certified driving lessons in Coquitlam, North Vancouver, Port Moody, and the Tri-Cities. See every area we teach in, explore our lesson packages and pricing, or get in touch to book your first lesson.

For the first time, I took my driving test, and with the training from this group, I passed. I had never driven in Canada before, but I only had two sessions with them and one warm-up session before the exam. I even used their car for the test. Mr. Farhad was incredibly patient and supportive, and he gave me very helpful tips that made a big difference. I passed on my first attempt, and I highly recommend him.
